About the Author

Robert S. King is a native Georgian who grew up in the rural foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. He began writing poetry seriously after he was discharged from the U.S. Navy in 1972. Since then, he has published two chapbooks—When Stars Fall Down as Snow (Garland Press, 1976) and Dream of the Electric Eel (Wolfsong Publications, 1982)—and a PDF ebook, Traveler's Tale (Whistle Press, 1998). Individual poems have appeared in hundreds of magazines, including The Kenyon Review, Chariton Review, Negative Capability, Lullwater Review, Midwest Quarterly, and Spoon River Poetry Review, among others. Shared Roads Press has published two of his full-length collections, The Gravedigger's Roots and The Hunted River (both 2009).

Like most practitioners of "the sullen art,” poetry has not paid the author’s bills. For several decades, Robert has earned his living as a software engineer specializing in web development and also has served in several editorial positions. Currently, he is Director and Editor-in-Chief of FutureCycle Press (www.futurecycle.org). He hopes to retire early in 2010 and devote himself full time to writing and publishing poetry. You may contact the author at rsking@futurecycle.org.
